525 Designer/Artist of the Week
To honor the Oscars, this week's Designer/Artist of the week is graphic designer is Fred Birchal. We especially love his minimalist illustrations of famous costumes from Hollywood's glamorous history.
Using his signature style, Fred's costumes are illustrated without an actor in it - emphasizing the significance of costume design in Hollywood, and how the costumes were an essential element in bringing life to the characters who wore them.
These illustrations were initially created for an online advertising campaign for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for their ‘Hollywood Costumes’ exhibition—the images are now used on decks of cards.
